Some local evidence for the existence of a Langlands-Shahidi method for covering groups

Dani Szpruch (Open University)

The Langlands-Shahidi method is one of the main ways to study L-functions and related factors associated with representations of quasi-split reductive groups. The cornerstone of the local portion of this method is the definition of local coefficients arising from the standard intertwining integrals and from the uniqueness of the Whittaker model. For covering groups the situation is much more involved as uniqueness of the Whittaker model fails. In this talk we shall discuss our candidate for an analog of the local coefficients for covering groups.
